Greenhouse Gas Emission MRV Training 3-4-5 May 2017
The regulation on MRV was inacted in Turkey on 17.05.2014 and was published in the Official Gazette of Turkish Republic numbered 29001. Upon the publishing of this regulation KAREM has started event organizastions to stisfy the need for capacity development. one of the training was Greenhouse Gas Emission MRV Training 3-4-5 May 2017 hosted in Ankara.
Day 1
On the first day of the training, topics that will form the basis for understanding the issues to be discussed on other days have been prioritized. For this purpose, the regulation on the issue of greenhouse gas emissions, which is the basis of all training, has been shared with the audience in detail after the information on climate change issue and emission trading system. On the first day, the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning made a presentation about important defects and mistakes that they observed regarding the preparation of Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Plans. Then, more detailed concepts such as facility category selection, emission sources and resource flow were introduced and practical exercises were carried out.
Day 2
Assuming that terminology and basic concepts are placed, calculation methods, classification of source flows, selection of calculation parameters, and emission calculations have been introduced. These topics were first described and then exercises designed to better explain the concepts were applied. In addition, measurement uncertainty and risk analysis issues were introduced and an exercise was applied. Later on, the online MRV-trial system, which was designed as a rehearsal of the existing MRV-online reporting system, was introduced and the necessary things to be done in relation to the creation of the monitoring plan with the participants was demonstrated.
Day 3
On the last day, data management and back-up systems, which are recommended to be used for data collection, and the that needs to be prepared within the scope of legislation and the principles of preparing the basic procedure have been given to prepare a sample procedure. Later, it was explained how the content of an MRV report should be, and this narration was supported by applications on the online system. Finally, information is provided about the verification process and the evidence that may be presented during verification.
On the last day, questions that may have occurred on other days were answered and the evaluation questionnaire related to the training was applied by KAREM officials.
